What we found

Backdoor access in AWS

A national logistics provider ran a hybrid estate spanning on-premise infrastructure and AWS, with complex cloud configurations and no centralised monitoring across either.

We brought AWS monitoring into a single SOC alongside the on-premise environment, and applied cloud security posture management across the AWS account. That assessment surfaced unused accounts and excessive superuser privileges, both of which are routine findings in a cloud estate that has grown quickly.

It also surfaced something else. Third-party developer tooling had left backdoor access into the production AWS environment.

What we did

What we did

Automated threat intelligence now blocks malicious infrastructure at the perimeter without analyst intervention, and the cloud estate is continuously monitored rather than reviewed periodically.

Cloud misconfiguration is the most common route into a modern estate, and it is the one least likely to be caught by a security model designed around a network perimeter.
